As someone who works at a small used bookstore, I can tell you in confidence that so long as you’re not defacing a limited edition book or a book that’s 50+ years old and actually worth something, you’re probably okay. I can’t tell you the amount of books we’ve had to literally throw out because they won’t sell, we can’t give them away, people won’t even take them for free. Books are precious, but they can also be precious as art, especially if they would be destined for the garbage heap otherwise.
